with a little boy haircut! Morning after morning of trying to tame Drake's wild hair finally drove me to give in and cut all of his hair off (I promise I didn't cry...much). We took him to a local place that specializes in haircuts for kids-basically they're trained to handle crazy, tantrum throwing toddlers. Drake did surprisingly well and when she was finished, I swear that he aged at least 2 years.
I'm very sad to say that my Grandma Pate passed away on Saturday January 23rd at the ripe old age of 96 1/2 years. I am so thankful that David and I called her on Saturday morning and let her talk to Drake because only a few short hours after that phone call, she passed away peacefully in her home.
Grandma seemed to be invincible, having lived through brain surgery, colon cancer and a hip replacement (2 of these were in the last 3 years). I was sure that she was going to make it to 100. I will miss her dearly, especially her fantastic sense of humor and her unwavering faith.
Five years ago today we lost my grandmother Billie Jo.She had the best laugh in the world (luckily Drake inherited her laugh) and was the most incredible cook. I still miss her everyday and am thankful that I was able to have 24 years with her.
