Catching up...

 AUGUST

Back in August we went to visit my family and Drake was able to hang out with his cousin Matt who is 2 months and 2 days younger than him. They are going to be the best of friends!

SEPTEMBER

September was a less happy month for us considering that Drakey broke his left arm :(  He was trying to stand and fell on it wrong-this was verified by our Orthopedic surgeon (trust me, we were freaking out that something worse happened to him).  My mom came out from California to help take care of him since it was a big adjustment.  He was in a cast for 3 weeks and then was in a brace for another 4 weeks.  During this time our household didn't get much sleep at all, you see, Drake sucked his left thumb and the cast no longer allowed him to do this...he was very unhappy to say the least.  Once the cast and brace came off we figured that the first thing that he would do would be to shove his thumb into his mouth, but that wasn't the case at all, he actually no longer sucks his thumb which hopefully will save us a lot of money in braces!  He had just started to crawl and pull up when all of this happened, so we were really worried that this would delay him severely, but he still crawled all over the place and was still into everything.
We are very thankful that his arm has healed very well and that that chapter is closed-although I've been reminded by everyone that he's a boy and this may not be his last cast :(

I know, I know, it's been forever...

First of all, I promise that I will post pictures soon! This past month has been absolutely insane at work, the beginning of the year is always like this. I can hardly find time to breathe during the day...okay that's a bit sarcastic, but it's been unbelievable. Home has been crazy as well, Drake broke his arm and had to get a cast(it's now off, but he's wearing a brace). He was standing up at daycare and fell on it wrong, (don't worry, we verified this with the doctor). He is crawling all over the place, climbing up the stairs, pulling up on everything and is really acting like he wants to walk soon. I don't know how we'll ever keep up with him-he's super fast! He now has 8 teeth (including 2 molars) and he is starting to look like a little boy :( Our sweet little baby is now gone and has been replaced with a (still sweet most of the time) TODDLER who definitely knows what he wants and how to DEMAND it. David and I are doing our best at the discipline part of parenting but it's really hard when we tell him no and we laugh at the look that he gives us. This is definitely a whole new stage for us all!

I forgot to add this picture that we snapped off of our tv when Fox 4 put his birthday picture up. The weather man, Evan, reads off all of the birthdays and he didn't even attempt to say our last name, he just said "Happy Birthday Drake" :)

12 month Pro Pics

I wanted to get Drake's 12 month pictures done since I knew that we would eventually be cutting Drake's adorable curls (sniff, sniff). Through our friends Rece and Jenny we found the most wonderful photographer, Jenna Cole. Drake was so comfortable with her and I couldn't be happier with the way that the pictures turned out.

Drake's first haircut

So, after many, many people (specifically at Wal-Mart) made the mistake of calling Drake a "beautiful little girl with the most gorgeous curls" we decided to go ahead and take him to get his first haircut. I had an appointment scheduled and my wonderful stylist Joanette made the time to cut Drake's hair for us. I had been dreading the first haircut (I wasn't ready for him to look like a little boy yet), but it was a lot easier on me (and Drake) than I was expecting it to be. I'm happy to say that the curls are still there! We're going to let it grow back out for awhile and just get it trimmed every so often...

Birthday party pics (finally)

Yes, I realize it has been forever since I posted (thanks for the MANY reminders from Sarah :)) but I'm finally getting around to posting birthday party pics. We had a birthday luau and it was a blast! Drake is 13 months old today and I can't believe that it has already month since the party.
