It was exactly 1 year ago today that we found out that we were having a boy! We went in for our big ultrasound and Drake had his legs crossed almost the entire time! The ultrasound tech had to really work to try to make him uncross (he's still a bit of a modest baby).
I know some people say that it can ruin one of life's only surprises if you find out what you are having, but I don't regret it for one minute. Not only was it great for planning purpose, but also because I feel like I really got to know Drake before he was born.
Here are some pictures from 1 year ago today at his ultrasound and some that I took this morning. He looks a little different :)

Monkey Face
When I was about Drake's age, I made this face that we called "monkey face". Imagine my surprise when Drake started making the exact same face about a week ago! Here is Drake's version of "monkey face". I'll try to scan mine sometime and post it with his.

7 months old!
It's hard to believe that it has already been 7 months since we welcomed Drake into our lives and I can't even remember what life was like without him! He officially started on Stage 2 foods and so far so good. His favorite fruits and veggies from Stage 1 were green beans, sweet potatoes, bananas, and peaches. The only thing that he really wouldn't eat very much of were the peas, but we're going to keep trying.
He continues to get taller and taller and is still a little chunk with chubby cheeks! It is so much fun to watch him develop and learn new things. He LOVES to help us turn the lights on and off as we walk into and leave a room. He also likes to mimic noises-especially those that Rudie makes. Speaking of Rudie, he's also learned how to pet her and Maggie and is actually more gentle with them than I thought he would be (I know that will probably change!). They still love him and are just as fascinated as we are on how much he's grown up. He looks like such a big boy when he sits up in the floor and plays with his toys by himself. I know that time will continue to fly and soon we will be planning his first birthday party!
The past 7 months have been amazing and David and I feel so lucky to have such a happy and healthy little boy.
I will post pics very soon!

Life is too short
Today I was checking in on one of the blogs that I follow and their most recent blog completely stopped me in my tracks. It directed me to the blog of one of their acquaintances who have just gone through the most unimaginable tragedy. They just lost their 11 month old daughter to cancer. She passed away just 2 1/2 weeks after her diagnosis. Their story really puts things into perspective and definitely made me hug Drake a little tighter tonight.
Please keep this family in your prayers.

The Drakester
Here are some updated pictures of Drake. His new favorite thing is to sit up by himself, so we let him sit up on our bed in the morning and play. I can't believe that he's almost 7 months old!

More 6 month old pictures
As promised, here are a few more pictures of 6 month old Drakey! As you can see, he's sitting up on his own (it only lasts for about a minute before he topples over sideways :))
